Check your garage floor and the area surrounding it for any objects or debris that might be causing the improper close.

First check the sensor lights.
If one side of the door is not in line with the other the door won t run smoothly in its tracks and when closed one side of the door won t close completely leaving an open gap.

Side mounted extension springs are installed above the horizontal roller tracks on both sides of the door.
If you need to change their tensions move them to a new hole.
There are usually two springs on each side of the garage door to swing it up.
But when your garage door opener fails to close completely if you don t figure out the problem you ll soon be back to the old fashioned way of opening and closing the garage door.
Though this problem should be obvious it shouldn t be overlooked.
Adjust them until the door is working properly again.
If there s something blocking the door from closing all the way a full close will be impossible.
If you can t find any other reason that the door won t close check the alignment of the side tracks.
There should be 1 2 to 3 4 inch of.
If you find that your garage door is indeed correctly responding to your garage door opener but is simply refusing to shut properly maybe it s descending very slowly getting stuck or making a terrible noise every time it opens or closes it may be in adequately lubricated.
Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
