It s important to get this switch at just the right distance from the motor so that the door is able to close all the way but the motor also knows to stop running.
Garage door will not go up all the way.
The limit adjusters control how far the garage door goes up and how far it goes down.
To check the balance pull the emergency release cord or chain to disconnect the door.
If everything else is ok try operating the door by hand don t hurt yourself it should come up without too much trouble.
You should now be able to move the door up and down by hand.
Do not ever adjust the opener travel limits.
If the door will not close all the way do the opposite and turn the screws counterclockwise or down.
They both have lights and both lights should be on.

Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
There is one on each side of the door.
Using a ladder to reach the unit unplug the cord from the outlet.
If the door goes up but you can t make it go down you probably need to adjust the sensors.
Though this problem should be obvious it shouldn t be overlooked.
If the door won t go more than 5 feet up adjust the force going up to be higher.
First check the sensor lights.
If there s something blocking the door from closing all the way a full close will be impossible.
