Based on your symptom and details it could have a faulty door lock assembly providing the control is not in a lock mode.

A power failure or if it was put in the test mode at the factory.
The pause can happen for several reasons including a power failure or if the stop pause button was pressed to pause the cycle and not reset.

Pull the lower panel out at the bottom and remove it.
The stop pause button was pressed to temporarily stop the cycle and was not reset.
To manually unlock the door on this washer you first unplug the washer from the wall outlet and then remove the lower access panel.
If the washer was stopped before the cycle was complete.
The motor may need to be reset if there is a power spike a load that is unbalanced or a disruption in power.
In this case the washer will pump out and spin after 24 hours but will stay in the final spin.
If a component fails with the door is closed the door won t open.
You can unlock the unit by removing the three screws at the bottom front of the unit.
For other models of ge washing machines a pause in a cycle will cause the electronic controls to lock up.
Pull down on it and the door will open.
The door lock assembly on a front load washer includes a safety switch that detects whether the washer door is closed a latch and a locking mechanism.
Reach up inside of the unit near where the door lock is and you will feel a small tab at the bottom of the lock assembly.
Whatever the model if your machine is stuck in a cycle try to reset the ge washer first.
To lock or unlock the control panel press and hold the delay start button for 3 seconds and some models you would press the signal button for 3 seconds.
Replace the entire assembly if any component fails.
If the washer beeps back at you twice when you press the start button and the washer won t start it means that your washer thinks your door is open.
