This should resolve the issue.
Ge front load washer door locks but wont turn on.
Pull the lower panel out at the bottom and remove it.
Pull down on it and the door will open.
The door lock assembly on a front load washer includes a safety switch that detects whether the washer door is closed a latch and a locking mechanism.
If any of these components fails when the door is open the door won t lock.
On front loaders the door switch must be closed and the door must be locked.
If a component fails with the door is closed the door won t open.
Replace the entire assembly if any component fails.
The lock mechanism consists of some switches and normally a lock unlock solenoid or wax motor solenoid.
This way is very aggravating to say the least but you don t have to deal with the door gasket.
The door lock also known as the interlock is a safety mechanism used on front load washing machines and on some top load washers that prevents the door or lid from being opened while the machine is in operation.
You can unlock the unit by removing the three screws at the bottom front of the unit.
If this switch malfunctions the washer won t start.
Either way you chose you have to remove the three screws on the front that hold the latch on.
If the above recommendation does not correct the situation service will be required.
Reach up inside of the unit near where the door lock is and you will feel a small tab at the bottom of the lock assembly.
This switch is in the door frame of the washing machine where the door shuts.
The other way is to take the top off the machine and reach down from the top to access the latch.
The system consists of a door mounted catch and a door lock mechanism located on the back of the front panel door shroud or main top.
