The door lock also known as the interlock is a safety mechanism used on front load washing machines and on some top load washers that prevents the door or lid from being opened while the machine is in operation.
The lock mechanism consists of some switches and normally a lock unlock solenoid or wax motor solenoid.
To unlock the washer controls press and hold the lock button for 10 seconds.
If the door lock is damaged or does not latch properly replace it.

To manually unlock the door on this washer you first unplug the washer from the wall outlet and then remove the lower access panel.
