If it is be sure that the lenses are mounted five to six inches from the floor on either side of the garage door opening. Two types of accidental obstructions can cause the safety sensor to prevent a garage door from closing. Cycle the garage door through the opening and closing actions using the control on the garage wall or the remote unit from a vehicle. If you feel any kind of disturbance call an expert. Check for and clear any obstructions in its way.

Luckily you can set most automatic garage doors to a manual mode to bypass the sensors. If one or both of the lights are off check the fuses breakers and plugs for problems. The transmitters remotes will not work to close the garage door. If the screw inside the rail us turning and the carraige is engaged but the door is not moving replace the carriage.

The problem is either due to a blocked path between the sensors dirty eyes loose wires at the sensors or at the motor head or just bad sensors. The first is an obstruction in the path of the door and therefore in the path of the sensor. As they are mechanical parts they will need oiling from time to time.
