Raise the garage door using the control button on the garage wall or the remote control unit from a vehicle. Linear garage door openers have a green light on the sending sensor and a green and red light on the receiving sensor. The red light on the receiving sensor glows bright red when the sensors are aligned properly. A troubleshooting guide blinking sensors on a garage door usually aren t a good thing because they re often coupled with the garage door not working the way it should.

Garage door sensor is blinking red. These sensors are little black boxes found on either side of the bottom of the garage door. Inspect each sensor to make sure the green or red power indicator lights are. If they re turned on in both the sensors then there is no issue with the power supply.

If any of these sensors should happen to get bumped or misaligned the infra red beam would be thrown off and the garage door won t go down. Look for small led lights on the sensors. For those who are unfamiliar with how garage door sensors work there are two sensors each positioned on a side. Each sensor will usually have a light.

A common cause of a malfunctioning garage door sensor is lack of power supply.
